Our Story

Wooden Duck Workshops was born out of the chaos of the pandemic when its founder, a recently qualified boat builder unable to find work in an industry that had been effectively paralysed, turned to making small household items and furniture using timber scraps as a way to keep his skills sharp, and discovered a passion for reclaimed timber. While the growth of modern timber is accelerated with chemical fertilisers, older wood that grew at its natural pace has much tighter grain structure offering much greater strength and more interesting and complex patterns and features. Reclaimed timber products also reduce the requirements for harvesting more trees, offering huge environmental advantages over new wood.
